"Experimental" motor gliders in the U.S.A.

The motor gliders represent also in the U.S.A. a very small part in the “Experimental” landscape, but nevertheless it seems that there has recently been a revival of interest in this type of aircraft; perhaps this can be explained by the generalized increase in costs that has certainly not spared sport aviation.


On March 1, 2022, Dan Johnson's online magazine, specializing in light aviation, published this article; evidently the self-construction from drawings, undoubtedly a minority compared to that from Kit, still has a certain following, also in consideration of the fact that the costs of construction and use of a motor glider in wood and fabric, starting from drawings, is only a small fraction compared to those of an “Experimental” plane purchased finished or even in Kit.

Also the offer of construction plans and kits in this aircraft niche is consequently limited and this too may explain the reason for this article, which can only please the author of the projects.
